Modigliani Portraits...

Room 15 have been working very hard on these Modigliani portraits.  Modigliani was an Italian painter who liked to paint portraits that showed people with elongated necks and faces.  He liked to paint people looking a little 'sombre'.
Come into our cloakroom to see more of our work!

Information Evening

Don't forget the Information Evening on Monday from 5:45 - 6:15. We would love as many parents as possible to join us, as we share some information about what will be happening in the Year 3/4 classes this year. Rooms 15-18 meeting will be held in Rooms 17 and 18.

Our forest community

On Friday the year 3 & 4 classes met together to discuss our hub names. These relate to the trees found in the indigenous podocarp forests of Aotearoa New Zealand. We talked about how trees reach for the light and grow tall which links with our school value of excellence. There is also a connection with our values of manaakitanga and community in how the trees in a forest protect and sustain the smaller plants, birds and insects which we believe links to our expectations for the tamariki in our hubs looking out for the younger children at St Albans.

The names we decided on are;
Rooms 15 & 16 : Rimu
Rooms 17 & 18 :Tōtara
Rooms 19, 20 & 21 : Kahikatea

                                   Click on this image to learn about podocarp forests.

Aquagym

Aquagym Swimming
 Remember to bring your togs and towel every day next week. A drawstring or zipped bag is also a good option to help prevent items going astray! Please make sure that your school uniform is named.

Room 15 & 16 Statistics

Over the past couple of weeks Room 15 & 16 students have been learning to conduct investigations by gathering and sorting information. They then have been learning to display and communicate their findings through various types of graphs. Feel free to come in and have a look at the information they have discovered about either their class or wider school community.

Rainbow Holiday Writing

Rooms 15 and 16 have been doing some holiday writing based on the colours of the rainbow. The children initially had to brainstorm ideas around one colour in small groups. This was then shared with the class and used as a writing prompt.
