Casting Magic With Worms
Room 16 had a great day at the Botanic Gardens learning all about worms and their place in the environment. It has motivated us to start our own worm farm at school!
ORAL
LANGUAGE TERM 2
This term we will
continue to develop our oral language skills by sharing our experiences and
interests and by finding information to share with our peers. Please find below
the topics we will be talking about this term on a WEDNESDAY, in our buzz
groups, with partners or with the children from Room 15. There is so much to
learn about being good listeners and speakers when we talk to our peers and
listen to their ideas!
The children
will need to be prepared with their ‘news item’ It’s a good idea to put this
list on the fridge so you can see the upcoming topic and have a chat about it
at home first. The sharing time is brief – 2-3 minutes per child.
Come and see
me if you have any questions.

CROSS COUNTRY 2016
Music
Room 16 first worked on identifying beat and rhythm. They then responded to recorded classical music, working on identifying the changes in sound. Later the children moved onto body percussion soundscapes. They had a great time!!
Ball Skills
Mrs Berliner took Room 16 out for a game of 'rob the nest' today. They had a great time learning the rules of the game and how to work together to achieve success!Science - wonderful science!
Today Room 16 made a 'tornado in a bottle' as part of our integrated inquiry topic based on the Wizard of Oz. They had a great time experimenting with water, dishwash liquid, and glitter. See if you can make one at home! Tell Mum or Dad as much information as you can remember about tornados! (Hint: Vortex! Funnel!)Space Writing
Room 16 have been looking at creative writing this week. We were learning how to use a topic sentence and break our ideas into paragraphs. Feel free to come in and have a read of our ideas based around living in space.
TRYathlon
We will be holding a year 3/4 TRYathlon in a few weeks time, - more details to follow. It would be a good idea for the children to practise riding their bikes beforehand.
Aquagym
The children had a great time last week at Aquagym - Here are some snaps thanks to Hannah our photographer!
Self Portraits!
Over the past 2 weeks Room 16 have been working with Mrs Berliner to create their own self portraits. They have been looking at: proportion, tones, shadows and highlights through the artwork of Rita Angus. Come in and have a look!
Studyladder
Please check your child's home learning book for their login and password. It would be great if you could help your child to learn these off by heart. I will update the activities regularly and eventually group the children for more directed learning. This term it would be great if they could have a play around of all activities.
