On Tuesday staff from Christchurch Libraries ran two sessions with our hub. They shared a book called The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore that had a 3D App, bringing some of the images to life!
The children also got to do some of their own creating using iPads, getting some of the characters from the book to talk.
Welcome to the Room 15 and 16 Collaborative blog for 2016. We hope you enjoy looking at the learning that is taking place in our classes!

Wearable Arts Festival...
A huge congratulations to all the children from St Albans School who created a costume for the Wearable Arts section of the Cultural Festival. We would like to say a huge well done to Annabel, Charlotte, Arabella and Mae from Team Rimu for their amazing creations. We were all so proud of your efforts - it was a lot of hard work! How exciting to see you on the stage!

Wire Art...
We had a great time creating wire birds this week in Art. It was quite tricky and we weren't sure how we would go, but with the help of Wendy and some fabulous parent helpers, we managed to create some artistic birds. We used pliers to twist and bend the wire into the shape of a bird. We then decorated them with buttons and beads. It required a lot of patience! They look great!

Poetry Competition...
Our class competition will take place this THURSDAY AUGUST 18th at 11am. Please help your child learn their poem off by heart by then. We are working on these in class too, with a focus on expression, clarity, volume and speaking at a suitable pace – not too fast! We look forward to seeing the children present and hope you can join us!
Olympic Rings
St Albans School made their own Olympic Ring display, as a sign of unity. The children came to school dressed in their house colours and the staff came wearing black to make up the fifth ring. The Olympic Rings represent the five inhabited continents of the world that are united through the Olympics.

House Mufti - Monday
This Monday (15th August) the children have been asked to come to school wearing clothes in their house colours. The staff are going to be wearing black and we are hoping, weather permitting, to make the Olympic rings over at English Park.
What does it take to become an Olympic legend....
Becoming the best in the world at your sport takes years of hard work, determination, sacrifice, self belief and a special kind of drive. Michael Phelps is an amazing swimmer and the most successful athlete in Olympic history. Today we watched this clip to see just a small part of the training he does! Is there a future Olympian amongst us....
