Science Investigations

The children in Room 15 are carrying out their own investigations to find out how certain things can effect how a plant grows. They had to choose one variable to test. Some of the things they choose were type of soil, amount of light, water temperature and amount of water. They then had to carry out their investigation trying to ensure it was a fair test by only changing one thing and keeping everything else the same.

Broad Beans

Most of Room 15's broad beans are coming home, as they are ready to be planted outside.

The children can already see how the stem needs to be supported in order for the plant to be able to grow well. We have talked about using bamboo canes or trellis for the bean plant to climb up.

In week 10 we would love the children to email us photos showing how their beans and Little Garden plants are doing and we will add them to the Blog.

SWIMMING...

We begin using our school pool next week!  Your child must return their signed permissions form to school BEFORE they will be allowed to go swimming with the class.  This is a new safety procedure we are following.
Children will need to have:

• their named togs
• a named towel
• goggles if they already have some

A cap is very useful for the girls with long hair as it keeps their hair out of their faces.

Please make sure everything comes to school in a sturdy NAMED bag.

BAKE SALE FUN...

We had a LOT of fun at the bake sale yesterday!  It was a feast on the eyes as well as the tummy! There are some very creative bakers out there and the teachers and children of the middle school really appreciated all the work that went into bringing along so many treats for us to sell! Check out some of our sellers in action...

We did a PMI after the Bake Sale, reflecting on how it went and how we could do it better or differently next time!  Here are our thoughts...

BRING YOUR COINS ...

There was some confusion in Room 15 today as to whether we are able to also buy sweets/treats/baking tomorrow! YES we can buy baking tomorrow and will do this before the bake sale begins with the other classes! 

Make sure your child brings some money to purchase some yummy treats before selling their own! Please let any other Room 15 parents know this in case they do not read this email! 

BAKE SALE...

This THURSDAY is our Middle Team Bake Sale!  The children will have experienced these many times at school as the buyer - but now we are the sellers!  Individual items sell best - pieces of cake, packets of fudge, slices or decorated biscuits.  We have discussed how presentation is very important in the world of sales! So do keep this mind! We thank you for your support!

Potatoes

Our buckets of potatoes are beginning to grow well - there are still a few that are a bit slow off the mark!
Hopefully by Christmas we will all have some fresh potatoes for our Christmas dinner.
